Let’s Work Together to Keep Local School Districts Open

Mohawk Day Camp & Country Day School is partnering with local school districts to provide COVID-19 testing services to help keep local schools open.

In an effort to help local school districts remain open without the financial hardship on school budgets, Mohawk Day Camp & Country Day School, licensed as a limited-service laboratory (LSL) to provide COVID-19 antigen testing, is currently seeking healthcare professionals that would be willing to assist with COVID testing for a local school district as a volunteer or at a reduced regular wage.

COVID-19 Testing in “Yellow Zone” Schools

According to the New York State Department of Health’s COVID-19 Winter Plan, efforts will be focused on keeping K-8 and Special Education schools open as long as it can be done safely. The first step will be to establish sustainable, ongoing testing in schools so that they can continue to operate in the long term.  Pursuant to the Interim Guidance on Mandatory COVID-19 Testing in Public and Non-Public Schools Located in Areas Designated as “Yellow Zones” Under the New York State Cluster Action Initiative (Additional Addendum Update: November 14, 2020) the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) has determined that schools open to in-person instruction in yellow zones must test 20% of in-person students, faculty and staff, over the two-week period on a bi-weekly basis until the results of the testing reveal that the positivity rate among the 20% of those tested is lower than the yellow zone’s current 7-day positivity rate.
