We are all looking forward to things returning to normal as soon as possible, and that includes summer camp. Even though the first day of camp is five months away, we are still awaiting the summer camp guidelines from the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), which will likely require us to follow specific health and safety procedures.
The Mohawk team is well into the summer planning process and we have updated our 2021 Camp Safety Plan & Operating Playbook based on the previous guidelines provided by the NYSDOH and our established best-practices from a successful summer 2020. At this time, the answer to many of your questions is “I don’t know.” However, we have proven our ability to anticipate and execute the NYSDOH guidelines quickly and successfully, so we are confident that we can do so again as soon as the guidelines are provided. Our early planning combined with our knowledge and expertise from last summer will best position Mohawk Day Camp for another amazing summer!
We will once again reduce our total enrollment this summer to ensure camper safety and many of our sessions have already reached capacity. Please take a look at our COVID-19 Response page, which includes our 2021 Camp Safety Plan & Operating Playbook and an overview of our plans for transportation, instructional swim, face coverings, rainy days, and more.
As a parent, camp director, and private school operator, I believe that our children are among the true heroes of this pandemic. They have missed out on many of the necessary childhood experiences for growth, development, and fun over the past year, but they have proven to be resilient and adaptable to changes that are far beyond their understanding. Mohawk Day Camp is committed to providing our campers with a memorable camp experience and doing our best to help make up for all that they missed out on this past year.
We will continue to communicate our plans for this summer and update our 2021 Camp Safety Plan & Operating Playbook as information becomes available.
You Can’t Stop Camp!
