Steve, Ken, and Barbara, Directors

Directors

The Mohawk Country Home School and Mohawk Day Camp are under the supervision of Directors Stephen, Ken, and Barbara Schainman. Mr. Schainman is a graduate of Yale University, and holds an advanced degree from Harvard University. He has been active in education and camping for many years, and has held both regional and national positions with the American Camp Association. Mrs. Schainman is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, and received her Master's Degree in Education from Tufts University. She has taught in the public school system, and has served as a child care consultant to corporations. Both Mr. and Mrs. Schainman have been affiliated with the Home School and Mohawk Day Camp for more than 40 years.

In early 2010, the Schainmans' son Ken joined the director team for the Home School. Ken brings extraordinary experience, leadership, energy and creativity to school. He attended the Home School as a preschooler, and in fact our current Principal Carole Bouchier was one of his teachers! Ken's passion is to create meaningful growth experiences for children. Ken has undergraduate and graduate degrees from Duke University.

Staff

Home School's pride is our highly-qualified teachers. Head and Associate Teachers are carefully chosen for their caring and gentle manner, as well as for their professional experience. On average, Mohawk Country Home School's Head Teachers have taught with us for more than 15 years, and have touched the lives of countless Westchester families. Many of them join Camp Mohawk's summer program as group Head Counselors or as Program Specialists for our younger campers.
