Mohawk offers campers a large array of creative arts programs geared to every age group's developmental and interest levels:
- FINE ARTS - Mohawk has several Arts and Crafts areas, each specializing in different types of activities from stained glass, jewelry, and decorative arts to exploring creative expression through media.
- WOODWORKING - Sawing, sanding, fitting, hammering, gluing - all sorts of woodworking skills are honed at camp. With two shops, designed with age appropriate equipment and tasks, you'll never find a 'kit' project here! We begin with raw wood ready to shape, assemble and finish into projects like stools, bird houses, toys, and decorative objects.
- MODEL BUILDING - Our Model and Hobby Shop program is the perfect activity for campers who love to make and race 'cool' cars and planes, tinker with electronics, build and launch rockets, make colorful kaleidoscopes or just make a favorite model.
- CERAMICS - Mohawk has several firing kilns to harden and set the glaze of each hand crafted piece. Coil, slab and pinch techniques are used, and older campers may be able to try their hand at throwing a pot on the wheel
- ELECTIVE ARTS - Dedicated to week-long creative projects for campers six years and older, this program gives campers an opportunity to work on completing a project or series of related activities that is more involved than the usual one or two day project. Building dioramas, tie-dying and other fashion creations, Native American crafts, candle and wax projects, and toy and game making are only some of the choices. Science related crafts, such as soap, perfume and soda making may be in the offerings as well.
